When the local brothel turned 150, we decided to help them celebrate. Although the madam and the ladies are now a thing of the past, and the place has become a family-owned Italian restaurant, that didn't stop us from resurrecting some ghosts. Over the span of a year we reminded patrons that "It's Not a Brothel Anymore" with posters, menus, coupon books, outdoor boards, a webpage, and of course, some ridiculously controversial coasters.
Based on a cheeky Victorian picture game that uses hand manipulations (known as furtling), we created something that caused a little stir in the city. Letters to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and hate mail for me and the restaurant have made this one of the greatest projects I have ever been involved with.
